check your backup switch first
Start car and put it in reverse see if you have backup lights
My backup camera didn't work, so I wiggled the wiring from it along the rear clam and also played around with the connector, which fixed it.
It was definitely the reverse switch, as willy suggested - for the first step. Unfortunately, if I short the wires together the radio goes to the reverse camera view, but no picture comes up. I think my next problem to fix is that it appears that I don't have power going to the camera.

where is the reverse switch located? I have the same problem, though some buffoon has cut the wires. But i have to start with switch first, as i have no backup lights either (i do have taillights).
on the top of the transmission next to the shifter linkage
Excellent thanks! Asking new question in another thread about headlights.
I’m still interested in removing my radio. I have a backup camera on my daily and want one on my Q1 plus I’d like to upgrade to a nex8200. The stock radio isn’t that good and the touch screen is terrible.
What camera era have you guys used and where and how did you mount it?
