    Default California Registration issues

    Hi everyone,

i live in northern California and am about to purchase a Rossion in Illinois.

my concern is getting the car registered with the SB100 smog exempt tag.

i have connected with a dealer who does that sort of registration of component cars in California for $1,500.

My question is. Can i still get the registration without the build sheets and engine/transmission installation invoices?

    Anyone with experience in California?

    thank you.

I would advise don’t deviate at all and it should go fine. I didn’t have a build sheet nor engine/transmission installation invoices and they didn’t ask for it.

If they know how and have done this, it should be fine. Definitely need bill of sell and previous pink slip would help.

    Cheers

    Thanks Tigerlam92 for the info.

I am also hoping to find the previous owner of the Matte Black RUS0033. I wanted to see if he had any paperwork that can help me with this process.

    PM me if possible.

What was your outcome with your California registration? Was it successful or did you end up with a Montana registration? I ask because I was not successful with my Noble and now I am going to try again with my Rossion soon.

Iím not sure how it is now but you used to have to be at the dmv office when they open New Years Day or the first day business day of the year. All 500 numbers would be gone in an hour, but after the house crash and Great Recession you could get numbers all the way to December. Mine was registered in somewhere east of the Mississippi and the previous owner got it all registered SB100 in CA. It took him 2-3 stops at CHP DMV and some other place that checks the car more thoroughly. Took a little work but it wasnít too bad. Helps to go to the right CADMV office as well. Donít go to one in LA Country. The less busier the better.
