    Default Gremlins

So about two weeks ago the 2009 Q1 would die every time I’d put the clutch in down shifting from 2nd to first coming to a stop. Battery light and oil light would then illuminate. Car would start up and off I would go to home. Checked things out and can’t figure out what’s going on so park it and I just drive it for the first time since. I start the car, it shoots up and isles at 2k RPM. Then cam down tho 1200 then 1000 then 800 and up to 1200 again then die. Same lights illuminated once again. I get it started again and it runs rough around the neighborhood. Died twice in 8 blocks at two stops in neighborhood. Got it feathered home pull in the drive, before putting clutch in it dies. Any thoughts on what this could be!?!?!? Thanks everyone. Can’t wait to get it figured out to enjoy some fall drives in Utah!

$50 on IACV (idle air control valve), $10 on damaged MAF sensor (once I had a piece of hose stuck in it with similar symptoms)

Any idea on what part numbers or where my best source of finding them both is? Rather just change both out and hopefully that’s all it is. Thank you!

This will sound strange, but does it do it while you are pointed downhill by chance? Mine used to do that all the time, I replaced my MAF with a MAP sensor and I have not had issues since. The MAF should have a part number on the back of it, if you look for one that works for a 2003 Ford Escape that would be the one you need.

Jdunstan: It does it at any pitch/angle. Had a coolant flush and oil change done done about 200-250 miles before this started. I am somewhat wondering if I need to replace spark plugs too just to be safe on that side too. Thank you for the info. I will get to searching for the MAF sensor! Thanks again everyone!

For high idle, and RPM undershoot on return-to-idle, the first things I’d check for are vacuum leaks. Second thing I’d check on a Rossion would be a contaminated MAF - you may want to remove the MAF element and give it a good spray with MAF cleaner (you can usually find MAF cleaner at the auto parts store). Changing spark plugs on a regular basis should be part of your normal scheduled maintenance routine. Just be sure to use the correct plug (DO NOT USE PLATINUM PLUGS), and gap them properly.

I think I may have bigger problemsÂ…. Changed out IAC and MAF, checked for vacuum leaks. Changed plugs checked injectors. Still not wanting to run and runs really rough

Have you connected a odb scanner to it? Even better, get a cheap odb bluetooth adapter from amazon and get the Torque app. Then check your o2 voltages. You can read a lot of other sensor info as well. I suggest joining the noble/Rossion Owners only Facebook group. A lot more people and info there.

How did the plugs look? Did you inspect them?
