Thread: Image Resizing for Attachments

  1. #1

    Default Image Resizing for Attachments

Right now, we have a file size limit of about 500kb per image. This is for extensions .jpg and .gif. 500kb is pretty large and may not be ideal for many of our members who are not on broadband.

In general, I'd suggest images that are 1024 x 768 or smaller (though images up to 1280 pixels wide may be ok). Also, 200-300kb is probably the practical upper limit we'd want to use.

To resize your pictures, Microsoft has a great free tool if you're on Windows XP:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx

    Here's a direct download:

    http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...ertoySetup.exe

It allows you to right click on your image and resize it.

If you're not on XP, there are other free tools available:

    Dear Gabriel,
Oops sorry, I've only just worked out how to attach images let alone re-size them!
I'll make sure I do it right next time.

Alternatively, you can use VSO Image Resizer. Its free and it works with Vista and its a bit more customizable!
