Richard,

I'm not sure, but the work was being done by Mike and the guys at 1g, so I'm guessing they have found it to be an acceptable alternative to pulling the engine for a clutch replacement.

I found this from a write up that European Car did on upgrading an M3. They did a +1 and saved weight using a similar wheel to mine. Here's what they had to say:

....The 8.5x18-in. Forgeline WC3 three-piece wheel features forged 6061 T6 aluminum construction and a weight of 22 lb. The WC3 is 1/2 lb lighter than the one-piece factory 7.5x17 ten-spoke M3 wheel.....

AFAIK, Noble wheels weigh 28lbs in the front 18x8.5", and 30lbs in the back 18x10" so assuming that the Forgeline rears weigh around 24lbs, that's 6 pounds of unsprung weight savings per wheel.

They are probably the same as my HRE 540R's then. 22lbs in front and 23lbs in the rear (26 lbs. total weight savings). If you had driven your car or any other M400 at all prior to putting the Forgelines on, you would have felt a noticeable difference. It just feels lighter on its feet and it has better acceleration without the OEM wheels.

I believe Forgeline also has a lighter competition series wheel too, don't they? I seem to recall that the HRE Competition series wheels are 17lbs. for the front and 19lbs for the rears (44lbs total weight savings). M0nitor could confirm that, but I think that's what he said. Based on our non-comp series wheels, Forgelines comp series may be about the same as HRE's? Good to know there is now another lightweight, high quality alternative wheel out there that fits the Noble properly. Thanks for letting us know that.

So, is the Viper grey M400 in the picture 1g's current demo car? Did they also put Forgelines on the demo?

Craig

I'm very interested in ordering the Forgelines for my car this spring.
I've been waiting for someone to order a M400 in white. It looks awesome.

Guys, I will have wheels available in the begining of the year from DPE - will be almost half the cost of HREs. And about 17-19 lbs.

Those wheels look great chris. Although, I am unsure of who I am going to go with for wheels right now. Most likely I am going to get a set from CCW now and possibly another set from DPE when you get things finalized with them. CCW is local, they manufacture on site here in the US, the turn time is extremely fast (I could have a set of wheels by next week at the latest), if you ever need a replacement they are available in 1-2 days, and the quality is right at the top with all the other forged racing applications out there. A set of CCW's is going to run $2300 for a 3pc wheel, forged center and spun barrel.
